Biography – Ivana Bacovic

Originally from Melbourne, Ivana recently completed her Masters in Clinical Psychology at Charles Darwin University before relocating to Brisbane to complete her clinical registrar program at Benchmark Psychology. Her academic research has involved examination of addictive behaviours and substance use at both honours and masters level. During her time in Darwin, she gained experience working in non for profit organisations and private practice.
Ivana has a strong passion for mental health and general wellbeing. She is approachable, passionate and committed to building strong therapeutic relationships with a client-centred, humanistic and strengths based approach. Her style is warm, respectful and collaborative. Ivana utilises an integrative approach to therapy which acknowledges the individual needs of clients. She places emphasis on working collaboratively with family members and caregivers, general practitioners, allied health professionals and schools to gain a deep understanding of the client to inform her treatment methods. Ivana takes a holistic approach to psychology emphasising evidence based treatments and research to inform and tailor treatment plans. She uses various therapeutic approaches to inform treatment including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion Focussed Therapy and Schema Informed Therapy.  She enjoys working across the lifespan, and has a particular interest in working in the areas of anger, addictions, anxiety and children. She is an LGBTIQA+ Ally and her pronouns are she/her.
 

Ivana is lifelong learner and is committed to further education, training, personal and professional development. 

Ivana is a member of the Australian Psychological Society. She is a bilingual clinician who can provide therapy in English and Serbian.  

Away from the professional world, she rejuvenates by spending a great deal of time soaking up the Queensland sunshine, walking in nature, swimming and running.”
